Autumn 2026 - Medieval and Winter Workshops

October

I’ve made a few items for a local exhibition at the Old Bakehouse Gallery in Kyle of Lochalsh from the 2nd of October until the 11th. The theme is Medieval and it’s curated by Caitlin and Ciara of Create Art Shop. I’ve been playing with new ideas and incorporating bark and leaves. This is following a workshop I was lucky to attend this summer at Tear Up, a fantastic fibre arts festival, where I was learning a bark twill satchel with invasive species with the wonderful Delia Fian.

November

I’ll be developing further the ideas that I started working on for the Medieval exhibition for a showcase at Inverness Art Gallery and Museum. This is running from the 30th of November until the 23rd of January. There will be some sculptural pieces, along with bags and lampshades I’m sure. I’m learning from Eddie Glew (for the second time this year) at the annual gathering of the Scottish Basketmakers Circle in October so expect some square work in there also. But we’ll see what the willow wants to do…

December

In December I’ll be busy harvesting the willow beds here, as I’ll be away on adventures visiting family during January. I will be squeezing in some workshops before I go. One at Òr in Portree on the 4th of December making willow stars. This hasn’t been advertised yet, so keep your eye out for this one on their socials. I also have space for a few one to one, or two to one workshops here at the croft in December, either a half day workshop making small items of your choice, or a full day workshop weaving a basket.
