Your basket should last a long time. The most important thing is to keep it somewhere dry. If mould appears, you can gently scrub it off with soapy water and then brush with a weak vinegar solution. If you think the willow has dried over time out, you can brush on a small amount of linseed oil and this can restore the appearance of the bark, but too much may not absorb and can be a growth medium for mould.Some baskets can be repaired. Bow handles can be replaced and I’m happy to do this. Some baskets have a foot added which can be replaced if they become worn down.
